However, according to the janitor who made the brew, the pot wasn’t decaf. But Pete wondered. He poured it into the cup, then held the pot up over the dim, green lamp shade hanging above the service counter. He could see through the pot above the dark brown liquid, toward the big guy who sat on the other side of the small room. Pete could see the man looking back at him, glancing out from beneath a black western hat. “Too strong for ya?” the man asked, while lifting his own cup. Pete rummaged a bit amongst the clutter of the snack bar, looking for some treasured coffee lightener. |
